Pattaya Navigator · 2026-10-14

Pattaya has received the international World Festival & Event City 2026 award, presented by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA). The winners were announced on 5 October at the 71st IFEA convention in Tucson, USA. The 2026 list includes Pattaya and McAllen, Texas.

About the award

It goes to cities that have created an environment for festivals: permits, safety, partnerships. Previous winners include Sydney, Dublin, Rotterdam and Dubai, and, among Thai cities, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Phuket and Songkhla. Pattaya City Hall talks about a "365 days of events" strategy: the city hosts more than 50 medium and large events a year.

What is happening in the coming months

  • 31 October - the Bikini Beach Race.
  • 21-27 November - the "Pearl Paradise" International Festival.
  • 27-28 November - the International Fireworks Festival on Pattaya beach. The city expects an audience of 390,000.
  • 11-13 December - Tomorrowland Thailand, the first full Asian edition of the festival: Wisdom Valley, Chonburi, about 30 minutes from central Pattaya. The organisers cite up to 50,000 guests a day.
  • 26 December - the opening of Lotus Arena Pattaya.
  • New Year - a big celebration on the waterfront.

What this means for housing

On festival days demand for short-term rentals rises, especially in Jomtien, Central and South Pattaya. See apartments for rent.
