Nang Ram beach ("Dancing Lady") near Pattaya: a clean beach on navy land
Pattaya Navigator · updated 2026-10-14
Nang Ram (Hat Nang Ram) means "Dancing Lady". It is a beach on the Sam San coast in Sattahip district, on land belonging to the Royal Thai Navy, roughly an hour's drive (about 30 kilometres) from Pattaya.
Where the name comes from
According to local legend, a young woman danced on the shore to greet navy officers returning from missions. Hence the name "Dancing Lady" (in Russian-language reviews sometimes "Dancing Girl").
Why it is clean
The beach is under navy control: development in this zone is restricted, there are fewer visitors, and the area is kept in good order. As a result the water is cleaner and the sand tidier than on Pattaya's central city beaches.
What to know about the trip
- Nearby are Nang Rong and Namsai beaches, as well as Khao Ma Chor pier.
- You need your own transport to reach the beach: there is no public route.
- Documents may be checked at the entrance, so bring your passport.
- During navy exercises the beach may be closed, and opening hours and the entrance fee change, so check before you go.
Nearby is another navy beach, known to everyone as the "military beach": Sai Kaew military beach.
Housing on this part of the coast
